View of Seattle from Kerry Park

Have some time to kill in Seattle? Here is a list of the touristy must-dos and some of our favorite places around town.

  • Kerry Park: Has the best view of the Seattle skyline (featured above)
  • Pike Place market: It's touristy, but one of our favorite places. Wander around, watch some fish get thrown, eat some mini donuts (located east of the fish throwing), nom some clam chowder, and grab souvenirs. It never disappoints.
  • Gasworks park: 10 things I hate about you was filmed here. And you can see the Sleepless in Seattle house from here. It's also just a great park to walk around or lounge in.
  • Olympic Sculpture Park: This is near Pike Place and worth cheking out on a nice day.
  • Check out UW... the most beautiful campus (and stadium) in the world according to Adam... and some other people.
  • Go to the top of the Space Needle: Honestly, it's not our favorite thing to do in Seattle because the Space Needle is the best thing in the Seattle skyline. But it's something to check off a bucket list if you're interested in that kind of thing. It's ~$20 per person.
  • SAM (Seattle Art Museum) if you want to experience some culture for the weekend. It's nothing you can't get in DC, Chicago, or SF though.
  • Seattle Underground Tour: Seattle has a whole hidden underground and a ton of history. We just took this tour and kind of love it. We'd recommend it if you have a spare hour and a half to learn about Seattle's history.
  • Check out a sunset from Golden Gardens (especially if you are planning to spend an afternoon in Fremont/Ballard neighborhoods)
  • Seattle is a city made up of a bunch of neighborhoods. We recommend taking advantage of that by walking around and grabbing some bites in different neighborhoods. Here are our favorites areas (we can provide specific recommendations if you ask):
    • Capital Hill (Starting around the intersection of the Pike/Pine will give you a lot of options)
    • Ballard (Ballard Ave has great shopping/coffee/food & a Sunday market until 4pm)
    • Fremont (Look up coffee shops to get you headed in the right direction)
    • Upper Queen Anne (coffee, wine, and great boutiques)
  • If you have a car, drive out to Alki Beach where you'll have an amazing view of the city. There are restaurants you can grab a bite at. You can also head over to Lincoln Park for a quick hike.
